Hutton, Rebecca

"The Creative Renewal Fellowship afforded me time and opportunities that I would never have had otherwise. It was an amazing experience that continues to unfold and grow over time."

Rebecca traveled to Reggio Emilia, Italy, where she visited the Loris Malaguzzi International Center to examine and explore program documentation, techniques that she was employing in her work with Theatre of Inclusion. She felt confirmation in her confidence in her own documentation process and validation of her methods after this exploration. The experience led Rebecca in new directions as well. "I also figured out that my creative renewal was not going to come from refining expertise but, instead, thinking about sustainability."

Rebecca traveled to Venice and Paris for inspiration. "My intention in these two places was to step back from my work, reflect on my accomplishments and goals, and to observe the work of other artists." She attended the Venice Biennale and viewed the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. In Paris, she spent time at the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou.
