History and Mission
Est. 2010
In the years leading up to the Arts Council’s 2010 move from Monument Circle to its current location at 924 N. Pennsylvania Street, many small, independently owned galleries and alternative exhibition spaces began closing due to the economic downturn. The loss to the local arts scene was devastating.
The Arts Council met with artists, gallery owners, and nonprofit exhibition space providers to discuss new possibilties. With the community's support, the Arts Council established a professional gallery suitable for solo shows and curated group shows created and presented by partner organizations.
Today, Gallery 924 hosts six to ten exhibitions per year. Talented artists at every stage in their careers have the opportunity to be represented and show their work in a professional setting. In addition, our staff works to support the careers of artists long after their exhibitions come down.
If you're an artist who'd like to submit an exhibition proposal, please see our guidelines here.
